ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Ottawa Royals & Knights SAM BAT Fall League Baseball program is about allowing players to continue to work on and develop skills of the game while meeting new friends and being able to extend their ball season.  Led by qualified coaching staff, the program emphasizes the FUNdamentals of the game.  In the Ottawa Royals SAM BAT Fall League Baseball program, players are able to play and learn new positions and refine their existing position play skills.  Empahsis is placed on situational awareness and ball sense.  

Players participating in the Ottawa Royals SAM BAT Fall League are also invited to attend two separate clinics to improve skill development.

KNIGHTS 18U SAM BAT FALL PROGRAM INFORMATION

The Ottawa Knights SAM BAT Fall Training Camp is designed to give players the opportunity to continue to work on their game while showcasing their talent to the Ottawa Knights coaching staff.  Led by Knights AAA Head Coach Chad Mariage, qualified assitant coaching staff, the program emphasizes weekly conditioning and training camps as well as five inter-squad games plus play-off series at the Ottawa Stadium.

OTTAWA ROYALS SAM BAT FALL LEAGUE PROGRAM INFORMATION

Registration to Open in July 2014

Space is very limited and interest high.  

The following is based on the 2013 format for the Ottawa Royals SAM BAT Fall League:

Teams : 4

Player Evaluation:  Sunday prior to season start 1pm - 3pm Peewee (born 2002,2003 & 2004) & 3pm - 5pm Bantam (born 2000 & 2001)

Teams Decided: August in advance of season play
Games : 6 regular season games + 2playoff games over five weeks (one weekend only)
When : Season Starts September 6, 2014
Where : Ottawa Royals Tauvette Field
Game times9:30am-2:30pm on Saturdays (rain days Sundays)

 

Practice Availability: A minimum of two combined clinics will be held to focus on skill development.  These clinics will be led in a Baseball Canada format and run by qualified Knights and Royals coaching staff.


Batting rules : Wood bats for Bantem and PeeWee Aged Players. Sam Bat baseball ball bats included in the registration. All players bat, players to supply own helmets, not team provided, 11/12 batter per innings max (excluding last inning)

Pitching rules 2 IPper game maximum/per player…but one pitcher can pitch max 3 IPin a game.

Game Length : 7 innings Bantam and 6 innings Peewee. No new inning after 2 hours for Bantam and 1:45 Peewee. 


Substitution rules : unlimited

Rules: Hybrid OBA/Baseball Quebec Rules. No protests will be permitted, all umpire decisions will be final. Contact must be avoided at the plate and other bases (no running the catcher). Catcher hurry up rule is mandatory with 2 outs.

Uniforms : each player can wear whatever uniform he/she wishes

Insurance: Included in registration 

The 4 designated managers will conduct a draft of all participating players

Each manager will have access to bases and catcher’s equipment.

All players must understand that they will be placed on a team, that may not necessarily include their teammates from their regular club team
